Good starting point for Qlikview scripting
By Roberto Capancioni
This book is a very basic introduction to data loading from flat files or database.
I'd have liked to find something about functions, subroutines, variables etc. but there is nothing about that.
Anyway the arguments are clear and the book can be a good starting point for Qlikview scripting.

Great intro to scripting for beginners and intermediate developers
By Mary75
I found this book helpful to get into Qlikview scripting. As a new business analyst, I need a focused text on scripting Qlikview applications, and this is a great addition to my library. As the book description says, this is a short book devoted to beginning and intermediate Qlikview scripting. It's not geared to advanced users, and I don't think it's supposed to be. My company will be using it as a teaching aid to project managers and business intelligence practitioners as well.

Redundant, inferior to "QlikView 11 for Developers"
By Dimitri Shvorob
I feel a clarification is needed. In QlikView world, "scripting" means loading and transforming data. It's not "advanced stuff", but a necessary step in any QlikView development project, including data handling and GUI design. Also, this is a step which remains in the background as far as a QlikView document user is concerned. It is thus odd to see reviews saying something like "I needed a quick introduction to QlikView, so I got this book" - you would expect an introduction to focus on the front-end, not the back-end.
Packt has scored a hit with what is now the must-have QlikView reference, "QlikView 11 for Developers" by Harmsen and Garcia, then another one with Stephen Redmond's "QlikView for Developers Cookbook", and then produced a series of overpriced thin books, most of which make me wonder "Why would you get this sketchy brochure if you are also going to get - as you have to - HG?" Here, Matt Floyd writes about scripting... and offers zero value-added. A disappointing low-effort book and a super-easy "pass".
