A readable and thorough introduction to fixed income markets

Extremely readable. One could read this book in a single sitting and get a great jumpstart to an understanding of fixed income markets - the why and the how.
Wiseman has an engaging style of writing which prevents the stifled yawns normally associated with reading this genre, and keeps one turning the pages...
The book nicely covers the fundamental theory of why there exists a fixed income market, then turns to the players and discusses what they do, and finally covers some of the fundamental trading strategies and math employed to turn a buck.

i could not put this book down

i found this book very well written. It provides detail and yet covers that what it says it does. I find that Wiseman explains concepts in a verystraight forward way. Although i had to pause to eat and think about some of the financial products discussed such as "par yields". I found I was able to understand the book. The book contains some of the trader jargon and a outline of the players involved in the market. I think that anyone who wants to something with securities or trading should read this, before/during/after an intership. As the english say "Wiseman" is the dogs ballocks!! get this book!

I needed a primer on this topic and this book absolutely did the trick. It covers all of the basics without getting bogged down in academics (which most books tend to do). If you're just looking for the "who, what, why, hows" then this is a good choice.

A great book for beginners

A great book for beginners. Different from other books, this book do not suppose the reader have any knowledge about programming language. The way this book introduce knowledge is always "instantiated" with analogues which make my understanding much easier. The conventions are also mentioned, such as use of "$" is not used although it is legit. There are plenty of code examples and questions and exercises.
This is the book I'm looking for. Thanks, authors.

About the Author
Richard Hoefer (MSW University of Kansas, PhD University of Michigan, Ann Arbor) is the Roy E. Dulak Professor for Community Practice Research in the School of Social Work at the University of Texas at Arlington. He has been at UTA since 1992, publishing frequently and teaching on advocacy, grant writing, program evaluation, and nonprofit management topics.

Easily accessible

I recently ordered this book for a class that I will be taking next semester so I can get a jump start on the readings. While I have only read the first chapter, I can say that the writing is easily accessible and not filled with convoluted rhetoric. So far, the context has also proved to be interesting and informative. Therefore, at this point I would recommend this book, especially for social work students interested in macro practice/advocacy work, as it seems simplistic yet didactic which can be relieving when you have a ton of other readings to do each week as well.

This is a great book. The verbiage is easy to understand and the chapters are not long. Also, there's no fluff present in the written material. It's straight to the point. Not a boring book. It's exciting to read and provide great examples.
